Ethnic Series: Toning/Neutralizing Layers

About This Lesson

This module builds on the previous module adding subsequent flesh layers. You can apply these layers exactly as you would the previous module, leaving the same unpainted patches on the top of the leg, the shin, the top of the arm, the forearm, and continue to avoid painting on the parts of the face shown in the previous module. Keep them translucent and pounce evenly. These layers act as neutralizing or toning out the yellow/orange hues and deepen the skin tone.   Repeat these layers as many times as desired for the skin tone you’re hoping to achieve. I did one layer of each.

I’m painting the incredible “Melanie” by Irina Kaplanskaya.

Please note: You may want to use different washes to tone the vinyl, depending on what ethnicity you’re painting. I’m creating an lighter AA skin tone with my sculpt.
